El Cotillo, situated in natural virgen surroundings of great beauty, is still a village of fishermen who supply fresh prime ingredients which delight visitors with the flavors of the best tradicional gastronomy in the north of the island.
In the recent years many different people in search of peaceful surrounding have settled in this little fishing village, drawn by the closeness and warmth of its inhabitants and the facilities which its coasts offer for relaxation or sporting activities.
The virgen beaches and cliffs of the best coast make it ideal for fishing and wind of kite surfing, and some of these beaches have waves renowned for surfing. The east coast of El Cotillo has calm waters and extensive beaches of white sand where salt water "lakes" are formed, being so shallow that they are ideal for children and for relaxing.
