El Cotillo is located in the north of Fuerteventura on the somewhat rougher west coast. Nevertheless, the lagoons of El Cotillo are absolutely suitable for swimming - even for children. The town itself seems sleepy and still quite original. But tourism is also slowly returning to El Cotillo.

El Cotillo is located in the north of the island on the west coast and belongs to the municipality of La Oliva. Until recently, El Cotillo was still a quiet little fishing village. Even now, the town is still very manageable, quiet and exudes more flair than many other large tourist towns on Fuerteventura. But there is also a lot of construction going on in El Cotillo and so the town is unfortunately losing a little of its peace and originality.
The old harbor (in the center of the town, with a reef in front of it) and the adjacent original town center in particular exude something very original. This part of El Cotillo is particularly inviting for eating fish or just relaxing. The sunsets can also be seen very well from here.

The long beaches south of El Cotillo mainly attract surfers - the surf is very strong here. Surfers who practice their sport here should be experienced. These beaches are not really suitable for swimming.
